The world’s largest Christmas display has opened in Bucaramanga, Colombia, the Mirror newspaper reports. Spanning an area of nearly 18,000 square meters, or more than two football fields, 120 actors will perform 35 biblical scenes, recreating the life and clothing of ancient Jerusalem. The main display is the birth of Jesus Christ.

“The Christmas display was conceived as a way to celebrate the holiday with family and to promote values such as peace, love and kindness,” said Bafian Rojas, the creator of the displays.

Dozens of artists and sculptors also participated in the project, creating hundreds of life-size models of animals.

“My dream came true, I felt like I was in Jerusalem,” confessed one young visitor to the Christmas display. 400 tons of construction materials were required to create the buildings, decorations, and animal models.

The panoramic exhibition has been listed in the Guinness Book of Records four times, including as the world’s most lavish Christmas event and the most vivid depiction of biblical characters and events.
