Based on the novel by Francine Rivers, the film "Redemptive Love" was released in the United States. The novel has been on the fiction bestseller list for more than 15 years. During this period, more than 3 million copies of the book were sold, published in more than 30 languages.

In an interview with The Christian Post, the author of the novel admitted that he had dreamed about it for years.

“It's been a long road. I hope the film will show the world what true love looks like." For several years, the writer received various proposals for one or another scenarios of his novel, but, according to him, none of them reflected the main message of the book.

"No script conveyed the Christ-like profile of the main character, and I could not approve of it. It should have been an example of the love that God has for His people," the writer said.

Not finding a suitable script, Rivers decided to become that screenwriter.

The director of the film is D. J. Caruso, and the producers - Roma Downey (director of films with biblical themes) and Cindy Bond (who earlier worked in "I Can Only Imagine").

The actions of the film takes place in 1850, against the backdrop of the California gold rush. At the centre of the plot is a young girl who was sold into a brothel as a child. She lived in hatred and violence until she met a simple Christian boy who later proved the existence of a loving Father through his love.

"I wanted the audience to see that difference between what the world calls love and what real love is," noticed Rivers.

All profits from the film will go to the Sanctuary of Redeeming Love Foundation. "Our mission is to help end human trafficking and sexual exploitation by funding survivor support services, training and rehabilitation programs in the United States and abroad," Rivers said.

"I am so grateful to God that He can use anything, even a work of art, to enter the hearts of His beloved sons," Rivers observed.

He said his big dream is for people to leave the theaters "understanding how patient, warm and beautiful God's love is for each of us."
